Lisasinson Share Volverte a Enamorar

One of my favorite songs this year is “Atasco” by Spanish pop outfit Lisasinson. The band are still holed up working on their LP at the moment, but while we patiently wait, they’ve leaked another great single to help get us all there. As you’d expect from this bunch; its a riotous pop affair from the get-go; the song just reeks of summertime fun…and at the moment, that’s probably what we’re all needing in our lives at this very moment. Just another fun ditty to get us through the day. Keep an eye out here; I love jamming these tunes. Oh…and there’s a VIDEO too if you’re into it!

Poppy Number from El Palacio de Linares

I’m always trying to keep up with the great Spanish indiepop scene, but as soon as I’m charmed, someone else pops up with something brilliant that puts me right where I started. This joyful tune from El Palacio de Linares is winning Friday for me; it has this solid harmony hiding in the shades of some jittery guitar shuffling. Plus, the whole song is about and a deer and a hedgehog, or so says the title, so why wouldn’t I be won over? You’ll be able to find this tune on Largos Agotadores, the newest LP out in early 2019 on Pretty Olivia Records.

ATX Spotlight: BOAN Readies Mentiras LP

boneIn case you’ve been hiding under a rock here in Austin, you’ve likely already heard BOAN, or at least I hope you have.  The duo is made up of Jose Cota (of Ssleeperhold) and Mariana Saldana, and they’ve been working to create their minimal electronic music for some time, and finally are ready to share their new album, Mentiras, with you.  While not all the group’s songs go this route, the usage of Spanish in the lyrics pays a bit of homage to the cultural heritage of the duo; it adds a bit of international flare to the budding electro pop they’ve carefully been crafting. Personally, I love the dark turn this track takes on in the second half.  Holodeck Records will be releasing Mentiras on June 9th.

SXSW 2014 Interview: Pizza Time

pizza

Pizza Time is the Denver-based product of one David Pizza.  Not only does he like to rock the pizza rep, but he also spends a great deal of his time offering punk rock in Spanish.   He’s done some releases with the most excellent cats over at Burger Records (though I wonder if they had issue with the band name, but I suppose Burger Time was already taken).  Anyways, David is on his way to Austin for a great SXSW, so read on for his thoughts about the festival.
