We are a mere matter of days away from the annual party time festival known as SXSW. With only a few more work days in site, I think the ATH crew is mentally prepared for whats about to go down. Im continuing the SXSW interview fun with some answers from our Corpus Christi neighbors in The Blind Owls. Hit the jump for their thoughts.
When I first heard about the electronic musical stylings of Australian based band Pines a few years ago, I was immediately hooked. Since then, the band always finds some room on my playlists for pretty much any time and feeling. Their music just sort of works that way. As a fan of the band, it was an easy call for me to send them interview questions when they hit me up. Hit the jump for their thoughts on SXSW.
I know for a fact that B. Gray and I have Hers high up on our list of acts to cover at SXSW. This is the new band that’ll make you want to dance your night away, smiling until the end. They’ll be blowing into Austin, a week after the release of the much anticipated Songs of Hers, so sample a tune below. Mark em’ on your calendar for the fest; it’ll be a hot ticket.
I posted about Living Body last year, just as they were about to release Body is Working, their latest LP. It’s a great collection of pop songs, with some longer tunes to really focus on the band’s songwriting. We caught up with Jeff Smith and tossed him our questionnaire. The band will be touring the US throughout March, including a date on March 17th at Esther Follies for SXSW.
One of the hottest acts in the UK right now is the Vryll Society. They harness tidbits of psychedelia, as well an accessibility that finds them in similar territory to acts like Temples. You can hear their latest single below, and hear what they had to say on their way to SXSW!

I wasn’t kidding when I said multiple interviews would be coming soon highlighting some of the bands coming to SXSW in a couple weeks. This year I sent out questions to any band interested, even if the band was totally unfamiliar to me prior to the interview or their style wasnt necessarily my favorite. I figure this will allow for more exposure and interesting responses from a wider variety of artists.
