You all know we love our Australia, so their latest export, Stonefield, seemed like the perfect act to check in with this week, just before the band heads overseas to the festival for the first time. The four psych-rock sisters are prepping a new album for release later this year, so keep your eyes peeled, and expect to hear a few new tunes at this year’s fest.
Eerie Wanda hadn’t really come up on my radar until I started thumbing through the SXSW listings, but I’m glad to have found the act, moving them high upon my list of bands I want to catch. They’ll be releasing their new album, Hum, on Beyond Beyond is Beyond this week, and pop fans will clamor to get their hands on it. At moments, the band recalls Camera Obscura, but there’s also a darker edge in the guitar chords, which creates a different sound that’s not really being utilized by any other acts. Spend some time with this track, and grab the album when it comes out tomorrow.

Australia’s Spookyland are a few months away from their release of Beauty Already Beautiful, but they’re hoping to continue building some buzz Stateside with their appearance at SXSW. We caught up with Marcus from theband for a few quick words on their visit. Props to him early on for his love of Robert Forster.
Those of you looking for SXSW artists to watch, as well as just great albums to look out for, should have Death by Unga Bunga on your radar. Their latest single is a power-pop stomper, akin to the best arena rock we’re all afraid to admit to our friends that we love. Still, what makes the band sound so rad is that they still kick out a little bit of attitude to go along with their huge hooks. Their new effort Pineapple Pizza (which sounds gross!) will be out next Friday, March 4th.

As usual, SXSW has slowly inched ever closer without me feeling like I’m fully prepared just yet. I of course have time and will be working to get myself game ready. We here at ATH also want to get you ready with some exposure to bands coming to town who we feel are worth your time. Today I continue that preparation process with an interview from Cali based Adult Books. Nathan and I both have been loving the band’s new album Running from the Blows (out March 4th on Lolipop Records), so we were both excited for this one. Follow the jump for more.
I’ve talked about Tennis System several times on this here website and I’ve always enjoyed their ever evolving sound. Today this new single called “Here We Go” might just be the most impressive piece of material I’ve heard from the band since their earlier beginnings. I’m really digging the break down of the chorus here with the lead guitar wail and perfectly driving drum hits. It’s a hit.
Tennis System will release this track as a new single out on Friday via Papercup Music. A new full length is coming sometime later this summer. Oh and stay tuned as the band will be in town for SXSW.

Night Beats should be no mystery to Austin music fans, as you’ll see in their interview below, the band are in town quite a bit. With our SXSW questionnaires, our objective is to get a different perspective from as many bands as we can who happen to be coming to town and, hopefully, everyone has enjoyed the reads so far. Today I’m please to get some answers from Maryland based electronica/producer artist Lance Neptune.
