A little end the work week viewing…

When it came time to figure out what to do the night before the Holiday last Monday, we figured something relaxing, maybe a little fancy, friends, etc. How about Orthy and Royal Forest playing the W’s Living Room Live series? Drink specials? Sure. Couches, awesome! We even made dinner reservations before hand. I wore shorts that weren’t cut down from longer origins.

Our friend asked if my little camera that joined us was one of the black & white specialty types, which keyed me to shoot the night in monochrome. Why not? I was “on vacation”

Mellow Electronic Jam The Deer Tracks

It’s Monday, and while my body recovers from Chaos in Tejas, let’s throw something a little bit more chilled out in your direction. This Swedish group is currently in the middle of releasing a trilogy of albums titled The Archer Trilogy–Part 3 should be out later on this year. One of the reason’s I like the group so much is that I can see similarities to other electronic duo’s like the Knife, but this group has a sound completely all their own; it’s always good when you can build on influences and take your own direction. The Deer Tracks is set to come to the US (though not Austin) in June, so keep a look out for them in your town.

New Music From Planningtorock

So here’s a new song from Janine Rostron and her awesome/weird musical project known as Planningtorock. The song below falls into that odd and tiny musical genre I like to call “horror pop”. Only a few bands (The Knife.. duh) come to mind that can create this sort of haunting vibe with their music while still incorporating some unique pop tendencies. This new song “The Breaks” will appear on the new album W coming your way May 24th on DFA Records. I also recommend checking out the new video for this song which will haunt your dreams at night…
