Listen to Longriver’s Wasting Time

David Longoria has been a longtime fixture in the Austin music scene, so it makes sense that his new project Longriver features folks such as Thor Harris, Sarah La Puerta and Lindsey Verill. This song’s a nice stripped down ballad, but what struck me was the fragility in Longoria’s voice; it’s almost as if it’s accented by the strum of each string, plucked to match his changes in pitch. I like the quieter close of the song too, as if David’s resigned himself to the concept of just ‘wasting time’ writing this song. Trust me, though; he’s not wasting our time; you can grab his debut album, Of Seasons, on September 6th from Hullabaloo Records.

Pop Gem From Talkboy

Looking for some pop goodness to improve your mood today? If you answered yes, I suggest you check out this new single called “Wasting Time” from Leeds pop band Talkboy. I personally am loving the swirling guitars and harmonized vocals helping to create a true gem of pop music. Have a lovely day.

This single is available now on 7″ single via the Come Play With Me label.

Young Scum Drop Indiepop Hit

Did you love that Tres Oui LP? Well, just imagine that album, stripped of Stevesie; you’ll get a clean indiepop sound, which is precisely what Young Scum are offering us on this new single. It ends up giving the band a more spritely version of the pop the Lucksmiths were crafting, but I know these guys have a penchant for distortion, so perhaps we’ll get a mix of both to delight us. Only time will tell, as the band will release their debut LP via Citrus City and Pretty Olivia Records on July 6th.

Surfy Indie Rock From Psychic Shakes

13938415_230312840702243_2574610887988297957_nThings are winding down in the music world as we near end of the year holidays and lists, so don’t hate on me too much for being slightly late to the party on this one. Psychic Shakes is your new favorite indie rock band…you just don’t know it yet. The solo project of Southampton’s Max McLellan, this act is just getting underway, but this new track, “Wasting Time,” shows that you should keep your ears peeled for anything from the gentleman. When you start the song you are greeted with a funky bass and percussive intro, but then those sharp guitars cut in and you have a hazy surf rock gem on your hands. Take a listen below.
