Night Beats should be no mystery to Austin music fans, as you’ll see in their interview below, the band are in town quite a bit. But, for those of you coming here for SXSW, they’re definitely an act to put on your radar. They just released Who Sold My Generation, and now we’ve got a little insight from James as theband makes their way back to Austin.ATH: How many times have you played sxsw/Austin and what’s your favorite/least favorite memory of the city? If this is your first sxsw, what are you most looking forward to?
James: Weve played Austin way too many times to count. Austins home so Ive got countless memories.
ATH: How do you go about choosing which songs to play in the limited time given in a standard minuscule sxsw set?
James: We feel it out. Its constantly changing and always different.
ATH: Best case scenario, how does your sxsw go?
James: It goes easy?
ATH: Who have you been listening to/ excited to see at SXSW?
James: Theres always a bunch of rad showcases, and Im not sure whos coming but listen to Cosmonauts, The Coathangers, Curtis Harding, and Leon Bridges.
ATH: Name two bands from your home town that we should listen to?
James: From Seattle check out Grace Love & The True Loves and The Great Spiders
ATH: Also, is the music scene in your city surviving? If yes, how? If no, what do you worry about?
James: Were nomadic at the moment so yes, music thrives on.
ATH:Describe your latest release in three words.
James: Think for yourself
ATH:Favorite way to pass the time on tour?
James: Sleeping.
ATH: What’s the worst injury you’ve sustained on tour?
James: Nothing really.
ATH: What are your dream festival headliners?
James: Lee Moses and The Monks
