The CrookesNext bucket of awesome comes fromRayRay’s neighborhood bar, Nomad. A friend owns the place and we were ready to take things on the road at a place that we knew and loved.

We had representation form the Brits, Scots, Irish, Bloomingtonians(?) and, of course, Brooklyn and LA.

RayRay:Anyone having ever put on a SXSW show knows how stressful and tedious things can be with short set up times, backline, and bands coming in from all over the world. It just ain’t like your typical show. Things were made incredibly easy on my life Tuesday at Nomad with friendly bar staff, a knowledgable and kind sound guy, gracious and on time bands, and a joyous crowd. Things couldn’t have gone smoother. Keeps were an impressive opener having known little about them prior to the show. Crookes kept the crowd captivated with hell a catchy pop tunes. Holy Esque gave us a little bit of an edgier rock sound. Adult Books provided the heaviest rock of the night and melted faces. Oberhofer packed the joint with some old favorites mixed in with some newbies. Girls Names closed us down with some of the most technically sound music of the evening. Seriously, this was my favorite show of the week. Thanks to Miguel and Jeff at Nomad and thanks to each and every band for being incredibly nice and partying with us.

BGray: My Scottish friends made it to check out Holy Esque. They ate pizza and loved Keeps. The Crookes, besides putting down an awesome set, also saved the day when later bands had gear issues. Chears, fellas.
