Sound on Sound Interview: Tiny Moving Parts
Next Friday Sound on Sound Fest kicks off what we hope will be an annual event. We threw out some interviews to start previewing the bands that will be gracing the stage, and we’re here with one from Tiny Moving Parts. The band has several albums under their belt, and a lot of praise has been going to this year’s release, Celebrate. Check out what Dylan had to say when we caught up with him. You can stream the new record below too! Thanks to Talia for setting this up.
ATH: What is the band working on at the moment, musical or otherwise? Are you out promoting new music, old musicor just working out the kinks on new tunes?
Dylan: We just released our new record “Celebrate” earlier this year! We are touring as much as possible off it.
ATH: Sound on Sound will be held out at the Renaissance Fair.
a) Whats your spirit animal
Dylan: Earthworm
b) Black Sabbath or Iron Maiden
Dylan: Bruce Springsteen
c) Turkey legs, yeah or neigh?
Dylan: Ehhh, cheeseburgers!
ATH:This is also one of the first Austin festivals not being held within minutes of downtownare you looking forward to the isolation or will you miss the buzz of the city? Planning to camp? Or just in and out?
Dylan: We will be camping out! It should be a blast partying all day and watching music!
ATH:Speaking of Austineveryone claims the music scene here is dyingvenues shutting down, bands struggling to pay rent, etc. Whats the scene like in your town? Are you facing similar issues or are you better off?
Dylan: We’re from a very small town in MN with no music scene. We are surrounded by corn fields. Helped us realize that we needed to tour places we’ve never played to get anywhere!
ATH: Whats your favorite album thats come out this year?
Dylan: Pup “The Dream Is Over”
ATH: You get to pick your own dream festival. Who are the headliners and where does it take place?
Dylan: Headliners would be Tegan and Sara, Paramore, and Mewithoutyou. It takes place in Benson, MN at our high school football field.
ATH: What was your first concert and did it shape the way your own live show comes across
Dylan: The Fall of Troy when I was about 15, and it influenced the heck out of us. I remember thinking “WOAH! He plays guitar fast, I wanna do that!”
ATH:In your opinionbest live band youve seen lately? Anyone secret we should look out for?
Dylan: This band called Prawn from NJ is amazing live! We took them out on our headliner tour, and I feel they deserve more attention. They rock socks!
ATH: Weve got the Presidential Election coming up. Whats the most important issue for you and the band? Is there a candidate that speaks to that?
Dylan: Trump seems evil. I just don’t want us all to die anytime soon. Bernie seemed liked the coolest dude, sad he’s not in the running anymore.
ATH: Fill in the blank. Make America ___________
Dylan: Fill in the blank. Make Americahave the old Burger King friesAgain.
