We’d love to see you next Thursday as we play some of our favorite joints on vinyl and hang out with some of our favorite people. Let’s get back to normal and enjoy some sweet sweet tunes. Requests will be listened to but not necessarily honored…

The Chairman Dances Share Dove’s Tail in Pink Light

The Chairman Dances have had me wrapped around their songwriting fingers for a few years now, and with The Strength of Your Arm on the horizon, it seems only fitting we dig into another tune. I really like the subtle nature of this track; to be fair, it reminds me of a Pains of Being Pure at Heart record if you stripped it completely bare, with the melodic notes shining through. What I’ve really enjoyed listening through this track is the way there’s this omni-present patience; the song seems content to unfold slowly, never really rushing, though still content to charm. This feels like a record I’ve already got marked for a favorite of the year; the Strength of Your Arm is out July 23rd.

Nailpolishh Share Post-That

Diana and Gregory are core members of ATH favorites Rat Fancy, but throughout the last few years, they’ve been working on tapping into their own varied interests in pop music, churning out fresh tunes under the name Nailpolishh. Today we’re really excited to share with you “Post-That,” the first single from their forthcoming Cry, Cry Again. It’s really interesting to consider the craft that works in creating this tune; I can hear a very Rat Fancy jangling guitar line looped from the very beginning of this track, and of course, Diana’s voice is still ever-recognizable. Sure, they’re dropping in beats and playing with those vocal notes, but you can still hear their adherence to pop structures. Pretty excited to hear what the rest of the LP sounds like, if you ask me. Cry, Cry Again will be out in September via Solidarity Club Records and Chillwave Records.

Pony Hunt Share That Feelin

In case you haven’t been following our site the last month or so, I’m pretty into the sweet sounds of Pony Hunt, the songwriting project of Jessie Antonick. On the latest single, you get this dizzying vocal performance, at times smoky and soulful, other moments are powerful and shattering. Musically, there’s a campfire stomp to this track, with the twang of the guitars helping to give Antonick’s voice this soaring quality that billows through your speakers into the night sky. Be sure to stick around as the song’s last thirty second are something quite special. VAR is out on July 23rd via Wing and Wing Records.

Sludgy New Single From Mister Strange

If you’re in the mood for something a bit heavier, might I suggest you check out this new single from Manchester based lads Mister Strange. The song “High Heel Heavy” features this sludgy, kinda dirty, yet bright somehow, take on the garage rock genre. This one would be perfect if you’re into things like Fuzz, Thee Oh Sees, or Wand. You can stream the song below or via other platforms as a part of the band’s recent signing to Pnkslm.

New Music from So Cow

To be honest, I really want to post everything from this new So Cow record (though I don’t actually have it); I’d honestly post anything Brian Kelly was involved in at this point in time. There’s a brand new album titled Bisignis coming out via Dandy Boy Records, and well, I think your day is only going to get better after pressing play on these jams. I mean, I’d try to wrap it up in a nice little pigeonholed package, but I’m not sure that would do the sounds justice; I can hear elements of early Thermals, though there’s also tidbits of TV Personalities and maybe even hints at someone who was jamming to Rivers Cuomo at a young age…maybe that’s just me. Whatever. This Friday the whole LP drops, and it should be in your Bandcamp cart on Friday.

Hunter Cahill Shares Goddamn Single

When you press play on this new track from Hunter Cahill, you’ll get a muted guitar that opens up into the perfect rock ballad; it kicks in with this perfect punch of classic indie rock. Cahill has some vocal similarities to David Bazan, which definitely drew me into this tune, but I think the best moments here revolve around the chorus, allowing the guitars to hang up in the air, before crashing down with this emotional punch that eventually evolves into this soaring melodic burst. If you dig what you hear, keep an ear out, as Cahill will be releasing a new single every month as he gears up to share his new LP!
