Levitation Interviews: Hello Mary

Unless you are living under some sort of large rock, you should be fully aware that Levitation Festival started last night in the ATX. We saw many of you out and about and look forward to more moments of tunes and fun as the weekend progresses. If you’re still looking for some recommendation this weekend, we’ve got one last getting to know you interview from Brooklyn based Hello Mary. ATH: What’s the name of the band/group? Where are you from?

We are called Hello Mary and were from Brooklyn NY.

ATH: Describe your groups sound to a new fan using only adjectives.

Playful and dynamic!

ATH: What was your most recent release? Any planned releases for 2024/2025? Where can we get our hands on a new release?

We just put out a record in September. More music will come

ATH: We’ve got a great lineup in town for the weekend. Anyone you are trying to see?

Slowdive and Die Spitz!

ATH: If you could put on your own one day festival with say 5-10 bands (up to you) who would be on this bill? You may travel through time and use artists who are alive or dead or on hiatus… you get me. Where would this awesome concert be?

HS: Blue Man Group, Beyonce, Radiohead, Caribou, Yo La Tengo, Portishead, Heartworms, Blur, Bjork, PJ Harvey.,. Obviously lots more. And it would take place in Glasgow.

ATH: We always like to hear about what bands are listening to in their van/bus on tour. What are you guys spinning? How long does each member get to play DJ?

HS: I’ve been playing Andorra by Caribou and a lot of Bjrk in the van. Its rarely a competition to get aux.

MO: lot of caribou, tortoise, Jim orourke.
