Austin Weekend Show Spotlight

Sometimes the madness that is the Austin music scene just never stops.  This week’s been pretty ridiculous as it is, but the great shows keep coming…and I’m not just talking about that Vampire Weekend or Cloud Nothings show; there are some incredible local bills to catch, including a pretty awesome release show.  Here’s my suggestions on where you might want to find yourself this weekend.

Friday, April 25th:

The Gospel Truth, Strategies, the Holy Smokes @ Beerland – 10 PM – Good old fashioned rock n’ roll

Grape St., Rolland Hazard, Booher, After Hours, Telepod @ Hotel Vegas – 10 PM – Some of our favorites

Someones Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Papermoon, Sweet Spirit @ Holy Mountain – 9 PM – Show up early for great local acts

Young Tongue, Dark Room, Monahans @ Red 7 – 9 PM – Check out the rising star that is Young Tongue

SOTO Presents: LA Snacks, Party Girl, Pollen @ The Black Heart – FREE

Saturday, April 26th:

Cloud Nothings, The Men, Nude Beach @ Mohawk – 8 PM – If you have tickets, be there on time to see Nude Beach

The Midgetmen, Ryley Walker @ Mohawk – 10 PM – Catch one of Austin’s most consistent rockers in the Midgetmen

Hidden Ritual, Captive, Will Cope @ Hotel Vegas  – 10 PM – Captive playing one of their last shows for awhile

Boyfrndz (Record Release), Hikes , Major Major Major, Future Death,  Chipper Jones @ Red 7 – 9 PM – Not a bad band on the bill
