The Austin Music Blogger Awards is less than a week away, so we’ve got a few more interviews to help you get to know your local artists. This time I caught up with my friend Stephen Svacina from Sweet Talk; his band is nominated for Best EP with their Flash of Light EP (12XU). Stephen’s a good dude, and in one of Austin’s great pop-punk bands (just don’t tell him that or he’ll threaten you with pyrotechnic violence). It’s been an incredible year for Mirror Travel; their Mexico record for Modern Outsider was our Number One record in our Top 15 Austin Albums, and it looks like they’re continuing their meteoric rise. We’re trying to put together as much of a push as we can to make this year’s Austin Music Bloggers Awards pretty special. We wanted to sit down with a few of the acts to get their insight on Austin, the Awards show, etc. We caught up with William of Shivery Shakes who shared a few thoughts on such things. His band is up for Best Single with “Sidewalk Talk;” HERE are the other nominees. As you may recall, we attended the festivitivities for the that song’s video premiere, check the pics. We’re really proud to be part of the Austin Music Blogger Awards; it’s going to be a huge success celebrating the Austin music community. While it may not be perfect, we’re doing our best to make it an event that everyone enjoys. So with that in mind, we caught up via email with Jess Williamson, as she tours in support of her recent effort, Native State; she’s nominated for Best Solo Artist. Given that the guys behind Learning Secrets, Jeramy Neugent and Ian Orth, are in one of our local favorite bands, Orthy, we see these gents on a regular basis DJing to fill the pre and post-show earspace.
