Through the hard work of labels like Earth Libraries, we occasionally get to get into something that unfortunately slid under our radar, much like the world of the Invaders. The Alabaman bunch are brandishing a brand of rock n’ roll that falls somewhere between Modern Lovers and the Nerves, albeit with a bit of a Southern bit of flare. It’s crazy how crisp and joyous this lead single is, sounding like it could line up next to any number of the late 70s punk rock acts, which is when the band were a working group. Earth Libraries will be releasing Designer Genes EP on May 2nd.

Jahnah Camille Drops Poppy New Single

Birmingham certainly isn’t the first place that comes to mind when thinking about dreamy, alt pop tunes, but Jahnah Camille hopes to alter your mindset with new single “what do you do?” The track features those elements along with some faint hints of alt-rock and late 90s post-grunge in there somewhere as well. It is sure to make a home in your ear holes today.

This track is part of a new EP entitled My sunny oath! which is due out June 13th via Winspear. Pre-orders are live now.

Metayouth Drops Speech Balloon in June

Didn’t want the world to think I’d gone completely soft, so when I stumbled upon this little rocker from Metayouth, I was totally ready to just post it for you. The track’s just this heavy riff working on tearing through the fabric of your speakers. Put your ear close, that’s not the only thing tearing through, as you can hear singer Dakota tearing through the wall of noise to offer up just the faintest dose of pop sensibility. It kind of feels like the whole world is full of promise, like we’re just all here pushing forward to tomorrow. Feel free to leave the rest of this shitty year in the rearview and push ahead with this jammer!

Show Preview & Interview: Photo-Ops with Tracyanne & Danny at 3TEN ACL Live 2/8

Friday night has some great options for you this weekend here in the ATX, and while it’s going to be a bit chilly out, I’ve got the perfect show to keep you nice and warm. Tracyanne & Danny are bringing along Photo-Ops to 3TEN ACL Live for a night of indie pop that is bound to dispel all bad vibes from the cold front. Opener Photo-Ops dropped a killer single that I shared with you last week, and has new materials in the works that are all sunshine. Tracyanne (of Camera Obscura) & Danny put out a killer record last year that checks the box of bedroom pop with stunning vocals and a little bit of bluegrass-ish swagger to it.
