Grizzly Bear, who will be joining us a little later in the year at Sound On Sound Festival, are releasing their new album,Painted Ruins, this week and they’ve just dropped a new video for the single “Mourning Sound.” On the off chance you’ve yet to hear some of the new material from this forthcoming release, I suggest you take a peek at the star-studded surreal video below and fall in love.

Did I mention Grizzly Bear will be at Sound on Sound in November? They’re one of the reasons I’m so stoked on the lineup–have you picked up your three day pass yet?

It’s finally here! By this time tomorrow we here at ATH will be headingout to Sherwood Forest, swords and shields in hand, ready to fest. Ever since the lineup was announced for the inaugural Sound on Sound Festival, we have been eagerly awaiting to descend upon Austin’s newest excuse to invite a ton of great bands to our town and enjoy all that these lovely folks have put together for us. Sound On Sound 2016 Preview: 5 Local Bands To Catch

Ladies and gentlemen, knights and knaves, sires and maidens– the time is drawing near for the inaugural Sound on Sound Festival and we here at ATH could not be more excited. Not only have the SOS folks put together a stacked bill filled with big time acts from all over the indie world, but they’ve also made sure to stick to their Austin roots by snagging some of the great local acts from around town. Sure, maybe you’ve seen their name on a poster for a show, but now is the time to make sure you show up for their set and give them some love. Read on for 5 local bands that you shouldn’t miss this weekend.

*Don’t forget about Late Knights, which is another excellent opportunity to catch some great bands– local and international.

Did You Catch This New Protomartyr Track??

I’m a pretty big fan of anything that Detroit’s Protomartyr puts out, so naturally I feel inclined to share with you a song they recorded for Adult Swim’s Summer Single collection. Apparently, this song was recorded in a two day span back in March, but when you take a listen to it, it oozes nothing but meticulous and refined garage rock. The track is slow but steady beast that thumps along, the guitars swelling with grit and cutting like knives through the mix. Make sure you take a listen below and check out when the band will be coming to your city next right here… *Spoilers* they’re even coming to our very own Sound on Sound Fest in November. Make sure you’re there.
