SXSW Interviews 2025 – Delivery
It is upon us and here people. SXSW music officially kicks off TODAY and while most of the ATH staff is stuck at work, you should be out and about or at least prepping for the week ahead. We are super pumped today to finish off our preview interview series with possibly our favorite band coming in to town this week, Australian buddies Delivery. They smashed it out of the park with these responses and we hope you’ll enjoy them as much as we did. Full responses along with set times and music can be found after the jump.
ATH: What’s the name of the band/group? Where are you from?
We are Delivery from Melbourne/Naarm in Australia.
ATH: Give us a short pitch for your band, describing sound, ambiance or whatever you feel like.
We are a garage-punk band with three guitars, four vocalists, a locked and loaded rhythm section, and a splash of synth here and there. Our songs tend to twist and contort at any chance possible, but most of all, we like to keep things honest, fired-up and rocking.
ATH: What was your most recent release? Any planned releases for 2025?
Force Majeure, our sophomore album came out in January 2025 so that ticks the box of planned releases for 2025 haha. maybe we will do something later in the year but for now just enjoying having the new record out in the world!
ATH: SXSW is often called a sort of initiation which can lead to increased exposure. As a band, why did you choose to play the festival? What’s your aim for the week?
I reckon we’ve become a band who isn’t really afraid to put it out there that were ambitious, we try pretty hard and if there’s anything we can do to make playing music more sustainable we are probably gonna try to do it. We have so much fun being in a band and the more we can do it the happier we are. The aim for the week is to eat as many tacos as possible, rock hard and have a good time.
ATH: What has everyone in the band been listening to, or, what plays in the tour van/car/bus?
Our tour driver Cl is from Brussels so we’ve been pumping some cool French/Belgian rap like Theodora, Primero and Damso, which is fun!
ATH: If you’ve had a chance to check out any of the artists coming into town for the festival – Anyone you are excited about trying to see during the week?
Super excited to be able to catch our label pal Oneda for the first time. Also pumped to see hometown hero VV Pete after she played an amazing Golden Plains slot last year. Other bands were keen for is Personal Trainer, Man/Women/Chainsaw, PAL, and Holy Fuck.
ATH: Disregarding the constructs of space, time, and availability – If you could construct a power group of artists to make the supreme, all powerful super group of a band, who would be in it? Pick as many members as you like. Who is on vocals, drums, guitar, etc.? All submissions will be judged with a winner awarded during the festival.
Walter Becker (Steely Dan) and Prince trading rhythm and lead guitar duties
Joni Mitchell and Serj Tankian on co-lead Vox
Kim Deal on bass and vox
Dual drummer action from Cavs of King Gizz and Matt Blach from The Murlocs
ATH: Any road survival or SXSW survival tips for newbie bands? What are some must haves to survive the road?
Scarlett: a tennis ball is your best friend on tour. It works as a massage ball and works as entertainment.
Jordan: I find it comforting to go down memory lane a bit and bring a Nintendo DS with some old 00s games and load up the phone with some classic audiobooks. I’m revisiting Philip Pullmans The Subtle Knife at the moment!
Bec: Liver detox tablets and shitloads of electrolyte powder.
Liam: fishermans friends, a towel for the drummer, and borrow a little pillow and blanket from your flight over
James: a good attitude. Nothing is going to go to plan and you’ve gotta be ready to enjoy the ride.
ATH: What concerns do you have as a band or a human or both? In regards to music, the world, reallywhere does your mind tend to wander these days? How do you refocus?
Its easy to feel a sense of hopelessness because the world is f***ked at the moment. Facism and right wing politics is on the rise, were on a capitalist collision course where billionaires are running the show, were watching a real time genocide happen in Palestine and were fully set to destroy the natural world.
It feels like a time where we should be focusing on those things because they are important and we cant afford to look away.
Music can be a great distraction from all of this chaos but its also a great way to form and foster community where us and others can hopefully feel safe. Try not to lose hope, go to protests and stand up against these forces however you practically can.
