The Laughing Chimes Announce Behind Your Blue Fields

Just over a year after kicking our butts with the solid Whispers in the Speech Machine, the youngsters in the Laughing Chimes are ready to return with a sort of stop-gap between albums, and a couple of new tunes to boot! It’s clear if you listen to their work that their sound has been evolving, as one should, and by the press release, they seem to have been straddling the territory between softer jangle pop and a sharper sound that developed on their latest LP. Some of the tunes here are in demo format, while others feel like finished products that just got put aside…until now. Of the two sneak peeks, I can’t tell which I love more…though admittedly there’s something really special in “Trapeze Baby” that I’m drawn to. Behind Your Blue Fields will be out on May 22nd via Slumberland Records.
