Mean Jolene Share Private Plane Video + Single Release Show
When I kicked off our ATH Records label 13 years ago I only had two things in mind: good music and good people. Throughout that time, Mean Jolene (who released two LPs with us) has embraced both, and if not, gone beyond. They’ve been champions of our work, as well as that of their local scene. Various line-up changes and time have seen the group grow and transform, with the latest creation letting Jolie focus on the vocal work. Last week they released a new single, “Private Plane,” which takes some of their fuzzy pop sounds and turn it into this sugary swagger that will have your body moving from side to side (as the band do in the latter part of the below video). I love the mixture of guitar sounds on this track, one digging on some surf-punk sounds while the other is all fuzzed out bliss, combining to play up the central melody that courses through the tune.
They’ll be celebrating their single release this Friday night at Hole in the Wall, with Gummy Fang and Andrew Cashen joiniing in on the evening’s festivities!
