Kick Back with Wax Witches

10407365_876274032399540_1545523233211221811_nIt’s not like Burger Records really needs another band in their stable that’s going to blast out some summery tunes, but it looks like that’s what they’re doing with this new tune from Wax Witches; it’s the project of Alex from Bleeding Knees Club.  There’s a bratty vibrancy to the tune, fueled by amped up guitar work and simple pounding drum work.  If the line “summer’s here/lets have some fun” doesn’t get you amped about the increasing temperatures (or I guess declining since one of these guys is from Australia), then you’ll just need to run to your stereo, pump this up loud, and get yourself in the mood. Centre of Your Universe will be out on September 9th, which is too late for summer time here, but at least we’ll have this jam to rock.

More New Music From The Rich Hands

Promo_Choice_4San Antonio band The Rich Hands have received quite a bit of praise on this site and the boys are excited to share even more new music with us today.  This new track “So Fine” is yet another garage rock inspired punky tune that is hard to not like.  It’s fun, energetic, and worthy of repeat listens.  We hope you’ll enjoy it as much as we do.

New album, Out of My Head, is due out May 6th on Burger Records/Fountain Records.

Another Denney and the Jets Jam

denneyIt makes perfect sense that Seth Murray of Natural Child would team up with Denney and the Jets for this tune.  The Nashville band seems to embody the same approach, at least as of late, to writing songs that bridge the gap between garage rock and classic rock n’ roll.  This tune will be featured on the band’s forthcoming record, Mexican Coke, which is being released by Burger Records on April 8th. The record explores themes of substances use, family, rodeo clowns and loads more, tying it all into the iconic history of Tennessee songwriting.  Take a little listen.

SXSW 2104 Interview: Vision

visionOne of the great things about Burger Records is their continuing push for diversity in the music world. They’ve been known for garage and psych, but I don’t think LA’s Vision really fits into that.  They’ve got more of a British feel to what they’re working on, and I definitely have taken a liking to their self-titled record from last year.  For me, they’re one of the band’s I’m really interested in checking out at SXSW. Get to know them via their short and sweet answers.   Read more

SXSW 2014 Interview: John Wesley Coleman

John Wesley Coleman IIIFor those of you living outside of Austin, please pay attention.  For those of you already here, you’re hopefully familiar with Austin’s John Wesley Coleman.  His solo work and his work with The Golden Boys remain a constant in this city, and we briefly caught up with him to get a few words before he starts playing all over town.  Check out what he had to say in response to our questions. Have Fun With The Rich Hands

We’ve been hyping up local San Antonio boys The Rich Hands for awhile now and we’re excited to call these almost locals ATH approved.  You may have heard their style before, but I think the guys are providing a fresh take on the indie-pop genre.  Expect quick, guitar driven songs complete with short and catchy choruses to make music in your ears.  I can’t find any reason not to like this.

New album, Out of My Head, is due out May 6th on Burger Records/Fountain Records.  Also, check our SXSW interview from the band elsewhere on the site.

Missed Jams: The Courtneys + Fear of Men

courtneysIt’s been a crazy couple of weeks, and with SXSW a week away, things don’t look to be slowing down.  In all that nonsense I’ve missed a few tracks I wanted to share with you today, both which feature incredible female singers.  The first is a jam from The Courtneys, who’ve just put this Cassingle out via Burger Records, as well as signing up for a tour with Tegan and Sara.

The second track comes from the much-anticipated debut from Fear of Men record, Loom. It’s another sign of good things to come, and is actually being release as a limited single via Art Is Hard Records.  The official LP comes out on April 22 via Kanine.
