Fun Fun Fun Fest Six photo coverage begins.
There is a lot to go through; here is but a smattering. Day One features Cloud Nothings, people getting tattoed, The Gosling, dust, YACHT, The Thermals, The Oh Sees, more dust, Okkervill River, Four Tet, bandanas (wearing one right now) and a couple filler shots from the house.

First, we’d really like to apologize for the site being down for a few days. Clearly we had some issues, but we were enjoying Fun x 3 Fest, so we got to it as soon as we could.
Second, I feel like the guy in this picture today, so I wanted to toss something your way. Aside from our post-grunge a-capella group during Danzig, we spent a lot of time talking about albums of the year, song of the year, and of course, the festival. But, we can’t seem to agree on our favorite song of the year, so here’s where you can help. We’re putting up both the songs we feel are in contention, and we need you to give us your vote. Fun Fun Fun Fest starts today, and not like tonight, it kicked off around noon. You’re already late! Some of us are disappointed that the festival was forced to move away from its stomping grounds at Waterloo Park, and now set up at the large landscape of Auditorium Shores. No matter how dusty or crowded it gets, there are so many great bands performing that will keep you bobbin’ your happy little head. Here are the top 5 acts that I am most stoked about seeing.
The Fun Fun Fun Fest powers that be announced recently that all after shows this year would be completely free for anyone holding a festival wristband. You can agree or disagree with me if you like, but that’s just about one of the most bad ass ideas I’ve ever heard. Leave it to the Transmission guys to continually outdo themselves year after year… So now that the festival is officially here, let us take a closer look at these Fun Fest Nites and give you a nightly recommendation on where we think you should be. Well friends, Fun Fest is officially upon us this weekend and it’s time to take a bit of a closer look at some of the bands that we’d recommend you check out. My co-writers and editors have already brought you some choice picks and battles so I guess it’s now my time to turn the spotlight on a band that’s got me amped up for this weekend’s events. When it comes to the electronica side of ATH, I usually leave things to the experts that stay tuned to the genre way more than I do. However, when a song like this sweet jam from Active Child falls into my lap, I have to share my joy with the masses. The song “Diamond Heart” appears on a deluxe edition of new album You Are All I see which has been available in regular form for awhile now. This new deluxe reissue of sorts will be made available on itunes tomorrow and features this new and previously unreleased song. It is currently ruling my world. Let this also serve as a Fun Fest preview as the band will be playing the festival this weekend on Saturday at 12:55 on the blue stage.
Ok I am the resident old guy. Aside from wearing good shoes, every festival goer needs to be reminded of five things. These are all on the back of my AARP card so I might as well share with you some knowledge. Fun Fun Fun Fest is only a week away. Yes. Really, just one week until I chase Slayer around with a boombox blaring Bieber tunes.

How much more can we really tell you about Nashville’s Pujol? Nothing much reall, other than you need to be jamming to this kid. He’s signed on with stalwart label, Saddle Creek Records, who will be releasing his EP, Nasty, Brutish and Short on October 18th. It’s gritty, but it’s not something you can immediately pass of as some sort of garage re-hash. Yea, there’s touches of that, but the overwhelming quality seems rooted in far more than some lo-fi phenomenon. So, if you didn’t listen to us the first time, maybe now you’ll get into Pujol. You’ll also find the band tearing it up at Fun Fun Fun Fest this year, so yet another reason to get your ears ready.
