Someone make the rain go away! It’s dampening my spirts, and it’s dampening the grounds about town, but that won’t stop us at Free Week. Tuesday had tons of hits, but we’re pushing forward with another great evening of live music from Austin’s hard working musical class. Get out there and enjoy some free rock n’ roll. Whether you choose to be a fan of the constantly evolving band Of Montreal or not probably remains irrelevant at this point in the year. Â Mohawk is winding down their outdoor show schedule for 2012, and this is pretty much a must attend show. Â Kevin Barnes and company are always extremely entertaining, and you never know quite what you get when you see the group live. Â Are there going to be elaborate costumes? Maybe. Will the tunes be enjoyable? Yes! You should just do yourself a favor and show up. Â French Horn Rebellion will be opening the evening up, making this a great bill. Â Oh, and Kevin Barnes will be DJing at a very hip after-party over at Red 7 following the show!

Personally, this is one of the best line-ups I’ve seen in some time, with two of my favorite bands blasting into town to rock it out at Red 7 on Monday night. Â Kicking off the night are Bad Sports, featuring a line-up split between Austin and North Texas. Â They’re like a dirtier version of the Ramones, so you can’t go wrong. Â And then, the genius of power-pop takes the stage via Gentleman Jesse & His Men. Â The group’s long put out hits that I’ve adored and raved about, and their recent record, Leaving Atlanta, was definitely talked about greatly in our discussion of year-end lists. You only have to work two days this week, right? So why not start it off here.
Drats…apparently Jeese had van issues, so the show has been cancelled!

Our adventures on the night of November 13th ended over at Red 7, catching some of our favorite Scots, Errors and Twilight Sad. It was vastly different from the earlier pop moments over at Mohawk with Jens, but welcomed nonetheless.

Having fallen in love with Bend Beyond, the recent release from Woods, I couldn’t wait for the show at Red 7.  It topped off what was already an excellent night of music for us at ATH, and for those of you in Austin.

ATH proudly supports Crocodiles and the beautiful pop tunes they’ve grown famous for creating. Â That being said, you had to know that this show at Red 7 we be recommended by the entire crew as your best bet for a Friday night show in town. Â Making the show even more enticing is a solid supporting package with Cheap Curls, Gal Pals, and La Migra all joining in on the fun. Â We shall see you there purveyors of all things good.

Have we got a deal for you !? The great people of Transmission are allowing us to help you get out and see one of the most anticipated shows of the season, Woods over at Red 7. Their recent release, Bend Beyond, is absolutely magnificent, and I have a feeling it will make a lot of year end lists. But, if that’s not enough to convince you, you can also see Widowspeak, a Captured Tracks act that made my list of favorites at SXSW this past year. Oh, and local group Hidden Ritual is setting things off right as the opening slot! All you need to do is leave a comment with your most anticipated Fun Fun Fun Fest band, and we’ll pick our favorite and let you have 2 free tickets to Wednesday night’s show.
