Fust Deliver Sheer Beauty With Bleached

Some people around these parts might call me the go to guy for all things twang and Americana on the ATH team. Today North Carolina based Fust is hitting both those vibes with their latest, absolutely stunning new single called “Bleached.” Honestly, with all that’s going on in the world this week, and the entire month really, this track is hitting me in all the feels this morning. Hopefully it can strike a chord with you and provide a little bit of that musical solace we all seek out in times like this.

This track is part of the new Fust album entitled Big Ugly. That one is due out March 7th via Dear Life Records. Get on them pre-orders now.

Tunde Adebimpe Shares Drop

Tunde Adebimpe is a sort of “can do no wrong” type of musician in my personal musical library of artists, albums and songs. He has been busy recently with a mini TV on the Radio reunion and also dropping the ATH year end list banger “Magnetic” a couple of months ago. Kick it to 2025, and Tunde is drastically improving my outlook on this year with the release of another new tune, “Drop,” found below. It’s giving off a more mellow vibe to it, with some slight hints of Seeds R&B, meets soul beats. I’m all in.

This track is part of the new Tunde Adebimpe album entitled Thee Black Boltzwhich is due out April 18th via Sub Pop Records. Pre-orders are live now.

Cleopatrick Share New Single Please

I’m trying to dry out a bit from that super wild ice storm we had yesterday (teehee) and music seems to be the cure to ease the back at work doldrums. My pals in Toronto based group cleopatrick are helping assuage my morning anxiety pains with this hauntingly mellow and chilling new tune called “PLEASE.” It has some hints of a post-emo sound mixed in with an almost indielectronica vibe akin to say Postal Service or the like. I think you’ll find it an enjoyable and soothing listen on this cold Wednesday morning.

This track is part of the new cleopatrick album entitled Fake Moon, which is due out on March 14th via Nowhere Special Recordings/Thirty Tigers.

Cryogeyser Share Stargirl

Los Angeles based trio Cryogeyser hit one of my top songs of the year in 2024 with the summer release of the stellar track “Sorry.” This year brings not only news of a full album, but also a new song called “Stargirl” which is an early front runner to hit my top songs playlist again. This one is sure to sort of lull you in with a slower and intimate start but of course things ramp up with those lovely, heavily distorted guitars. Gotta check this one out.

Cryogeyser will release a self-titled album on February 14th. Pre-save that sucker now.

Hamilton Leithauser Announces New Album

Look, the ATH crew has been at times accused of borderline obsession syndrome with Hamilton Leithauser both as a solo artist and as front man for The Walkmen. Did we track him down once backstage to buy him a beer? Maybe. Did I go all the way to Rhode Island for the first reunion show? Ummm yeah. Something about the music has always hit a personal note for this team. My doting aside, Hammy has been dropping hints of new music recently, which culminated in a new album announcement today along with this new single “Knockin’ Heart.” I cannot wait to hear more.

Hamilton’s new album is entitled This Side of the Island and will be out on March 7th. Pre-orders are live now.

ATH Top Songs 2024 – RayRay Edition

Another year is coming to a close and as we try to survive the ensuing insanity of 2025, it’s always fun to take a look back on the year that was. At this point in our existence, I can’t say any of us here at ATH put all that much stock into posturing and arbitrary year end lists, but again, I can appreciate the reflection. I am the lucky one who gets to kick off this nonsense with a year end playlists featuring a bunch of songs I found myself enjoying in 2024. Hopefully you might just find some gems you didn’t know about or something you forgot about. Though I think we ARE Brat in mindset, we are not Brat in musical tastes. Did I do that right? Check out the jump for links to both Apple Music and yes, even Spotify.

Pretty Lightning Return with Glade Runner

We’re getting down to the end of the year folks and it seems like most sites are focused on top songs, lists and year end wrap ups. While we may or may not get there at some point, we’ve still got new tunes coming in for top 2024 contention just before the year end break. My old German pals from Pretty Lightning just shared new track “Glade Runner” and it’s definitely trying to sneak it’s way into my year end list. It features that downright nasty version of psych laden blues I’ve grown to love about the band’s sound over the years. Dig it.

Pretty Lightning will release this track as part of a new album entitled Night Wobble which is due out February 21st.

Heavy New Tune From Open Head

The self-proclaimed heaviest band in Kingston, NY, Open Head, just shared this banging new track called “NY Frills” and I have deemed it worthy to share with you all. You’ll find a heavy post-punk, dark sort of vibe to the track perfect for fans of modern bands like Deeper. It’s a tad noisy with just enough rock n roll to keep it fresh and interesting. Check it out below.

Open Head will release this track as part of a new album entitled What Is Success due out January 24th via Wharf Cat Records. Pre-orders are live now.

Premiere: Sunnsetter Give Us One More Banger

It seems to be a year where myself and Ontario based songwriter Andrew McLeod are in perfect alignment with the musical vibes we need for comfort at the moment. McLeod has been dropping hit after hit this year under his recording project Sunnsetter, and right before the release date on Friday, we have been treated to another banger. This one has a touch more of an overall electronic feeling to it with a droning beat and a swirling, distorted guitar to balance everything out. Seriously, if you haven’t yet made a pre-order for the new album, Heaven Hang Over Me, go ahead and do it now before the release date tomorrow. Paper Bag Records has a variety of fancy ordering options.
